Martin, Mary Jo, 86, passed away peacefully at home on March 25, 2018. She is now with her husband and best friend of 58 years, Jerald; her two daughters, Sandra Pennington and Bonnie May McFarland; her parents; sisters; brothers; and a host of other family and friends that beat her to the Pearly Gates.
Mary Jo was a great Woman, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Great-Great-Grandmother who was born on December 2, 1931 in Bethlehem, KY, the daughter of Willie and Ida Lyons.
Mary Jo was world-renowned for her lack of patience behind the wheel of a car, her competitive nature with any card game imaginable, her bowling skills even in her eighties and her thousands of knick knacks acquired over the years at yard sales. She loved Jesus and spent countless hours praying for us all.
She will be sorely missed and survived by her children, Wally Pennington, William Raisor (Helen Stropp), Pamella Buster (Tony), Michelle Wade (Matt) and Michael Martin (Laura); her nephew and son from another mother, Harry Lyons (Patrica); 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom loved her dearly and will never forget her tenacity, wit, charm, grace and undying love and caring for them.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 12 pm at Evergreen Funeral Home Dignity Chapel with entombment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 pm-8 pm at the funeral home.
