

Mary R. VonBokern Murrow, 97, of Fairdale, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2011, with her family by her side at Norton Suburban Hospital. Mary was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and a long time member of South Park Country Club. Her generous spirit, kind heart and helping hand has helped many a family in need in our community for many years. Mary was always an integral part in most of her endeavors, but liked to stay behind the scenes. She and her husband, Joseph Thomas Murrow, Sr. started the restaurant Checks where she did the bookkeeping and helped out on a regular basis. Teaching her children and grandchildren the lessons of working hard, and always looking out for your neighbor.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Thomas Murrow, Sr.; her parents, Henry and Mary Loeser VonBokern; daughter, Jacqueline Murrow; siblings, Adeline "Ads", Frances, Aloysius "Al" and Theodore "T".
Mary will be cherished by her family; son, Dr. Joseph Thomas Murrow Jr., (Cheri) and daughter, Sandra Fitz (Bob); 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; four nieces and one nephew.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 3345 Lexington Road, with entombment to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. There will be no visitation. The family also requests no flowers.
