

Born in Louisville, Kentucky on Wednesday, May 12, 1943 Mary Ann was the daughter of the late Walter Baker McIntosh, Sr. & Catherine Margaret Schlemmer. During her childhood she attended Christ the King Grade School, then went on to attend & graduate from Loretto High School. Her professional care in the Medical Field, spanned over 40 years. Her journey led her to earn a Master’s Degree in Medical Technology from Spalding University. She became a Laboratory Supervisor for many area Laboratories across the Kentuckiana region. Beyond her professional achievements, Mary Ann’s zest for life took her on adventures around the globe, from the charming landscapes of Ireland to the diverse cultures of Europe & Russia. Mary Ann never gave up! Her resilience was unwavering, a fighter & survivor who embodied strength, preparedness & determination. Mary Ann lived a full life – a life well lived!
Besides her parents, Walter, Sr. & Catherine Schlemmer; her husband, George Michael Shields, Jr.; & her brother, Kenneth McIntosh precede Mary Ann in her passing.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Aimee Jo (Chris) Shields – Dearborn; grandchildren, Detwan Johnson, Cris Johnson, Hailey Airsman & Dalton Potts; her current love & companion of 23 years, Robert Redfern; brother, Walter McIntosh, Jr.; several nieces & nephews; plus, a host of other relatives & friends to mourn her passing and forever cherish her memory.
In accordance with Mary Ann’s wishes, cremation was chosen.
Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. in the Dignity Chapel of the Evergreen Funeral Home to celebrate her life. Memorial Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the Memorial Hour of 5:00 p.m. and then will resume after Services until 8:00 p.m. also at the Evergreen Funeral Home.
In honoring Mary Ann’s compassionate spirit, memorial contributions in honor of Mary Ann, can be directed to the Humane Society, ASPCA or Mass of Air.
