Mary L. Stettenbenz

Mary L Stettenbenz, age 92 of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, Jan. 14, 2022. She was born to the late Edna and Gilbert Hehemann, Sr. Her husband, Lawrence Stettenbenz Sr., son, Gerald Stettenbenz, granddaughter, Buffie Paxton, and grandson, David Stettenbenz, and siblings; Doris Haley, Gilbert Hehemann Jr. and Betty Bennett, son-in-law, Dennis Montana, and brother-in-law, Gene Dunn, Phillip Haley, and John Bennett, also preceded her in passing.

Here to cherish her memory are her children; Wanda Stettenbenz Rogers, Larry Stettenbenz (Brenda), Marlene Montana, and Darlene Stiltner (Fred), 5 grandchildren; Michele Poythress (John), Edwin Rogers, Jr., Monica Layton (Joel), Natalie Rogers, Tom Stettenbenz (Lauren), 8 great grandchildren: Amber Baldwin (Casey), Jacob Paxton, Jackson Turley, James Layton, Amelia Poythress, Dalton Poythress, Drake Stettenbenz, and Paisley Stettenbenz, and 2 great-great grandchild; Leighton Baldwin and Salem Paxton, siblings, Joyce Niehoff (Tommy) and Nora Dean Dunn.

Mary was an avid bowler up until her knee replacement at 88 years old. She enjoyed meeting her friends at Kroger every day, spending most of her day there meeting new people. Mary never met a stranger, always making friends wherever she went.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022 from 2-7 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will occur on Monday, Jan. 24 at 10 AM at the funeral home. Mary will be laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park, 4400 Bardstown Rd. Louisville, KY 40218.

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Ovarian Awareness of Kentucky in honor of Monica Layton and Joyce Niehoff.
