Mom was born on March 26, 1927 to her parents Rena and Thomas Jackson in Louisville, Kentucky. She survived the “Great Depression" of 1929-1933 and the “Great Flood of 1937”. In 1945, Mom graduated from Theodore Ahrens Trade High School where she was given the nickname “Wabash” after the song “The Wabash Cannon Ball”, a song made popular by Roy Ackuff and Hank Snow. On November 26, 1947, she joined hands and entered into the bond of holy matrimony with our father, William Tucker. They celebrated their wedding at Mammoth Cave. In 1950, Mom gave birth to Letitia Ann (Letty), Joyce Carol in 1953 and William David in 1958.
Mom loved country music. She had a Zenith radio that sat on top of the refrigerator that played country music on WTMT am from 6:00 AM until 6:00 PM when the channel went off the air. Her favorite artist was Loretta Lynn, the “Coal Miner’s Daughter”. We think she could relate to her hardships.
Mom is survived by her husband, William Tucker, of 73 years, daughters Letitia Ann Oswald, Joyce Carol Stone and son, William David Tucker (Jackie). Three grandchildren, Donnie Oswald (Adrianne), Greta Oswald (Pearl-Fiancé), Joseph Stone (Shannon- Fiancé), great granddaughters, Kyla and Keira Stone.
