Maryann Chasteen passed peacefully on June 29, 2026, at the age of 81, surrounded by her loved ones. Born August 22, 1944, Maryann will be remembered with deep respect and enduring gratitude by all who had the privilege to know her.
Maryann was preceded in death by her son, Bobby Chasteen; partner, Gail Heavrin; and siblings, Pete Taylor, Leon Taylor, and Shirley Pickett.
Throughout her life, Maryann served others with steady devotion and a generous heart—as a loving mother, sister, aunt, life partner, caregiver, godparent, and friend. A graduate of Southern High School, she dedicated more than 30 years as a Special Needs School Bus Driver with JCPS, a role that reflected her patience, reliability, and the quiet strength she carried into each day.
Maryann found joy in traveling and in music, especially “Journey,” and she was proudly known as an avid Wildcat fan. That enthusiasm was shared in a special way with a cherished niece, Theresa Crume through whom her love for the Wildcats became yet another bond of family and tradition.
Maryann is survived by her daughter, Caryn Kaiser (Tim - her favorite son-in-law); ex-husband, Bob Chasteen; sister, Lillian Crume; and many nieces and nephews; godson, Valin Heavrin. She also leaves behind special friendships with Pat Heavrin, Robert Ramirez, Sandy, and her helpful neighbor Kim, whose kindness and presence were meaningful parts of her life.
Visitation will be 4–7 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218.
