Maurice was an Army and Navy veteran of both WWII and the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the VFW.
Maurice is preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Ann Cope; and sister, Maui King.
Maurice is survived by his children, Mauricea Eli (Bruce), Roy Cope, Steve Cope, and Tina Abrams (Steve); grandchildren, Chris Eli, Alisha Eli, Stephen Abrams (Lis), Zackary Abrams, Jesse Abrams, and Tyler Cope; great-grandchild, Max Abrams; siblings, Perry Cope (Jean) and June Bencivinni; and companion, Nella Newlin.
There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Maurice at 10am on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4623 Preston Highway, with interment to follow in Evergeen Cemetery.
Visitation for the public will be from 2-8pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
