He was a retired truck driver after 27 years with Kroger.
Mr. Downing was preceded in rest by his sister and brother-in-law, Lovelle and Boyd Drake, and his parents, William and Ether Downing.
He is survived by his wife of 57 1/2 years, Wanda; three daughters, Carisa Jones (Baron), Carrie Embry and Susan Downing; a son, Timothy Aubrey (Phyllis); six grandchildren, Maureen, Hannah, Ashley, Dakotah, Alan and McKenna; and great-grandchildren, Elijah and Easton.
His funeral will be on Monday, January 1st, at 2pm at the Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway, with cremation to follow. Visitation will be Sunday from 3pm until 8pm.
