
Born to the late Martin and Mildred LeFevre, Maurice is also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Patricia Jean Williams LeFevre. Here to carry on his memory are his children, Timothy M. LeFevre (Anani) and Mary Beth Hoofnel(Jimmy Biller); his grandchildren, Jamie (Frazier Miller), Lauren, and Zachary.
Maurice graduated from Southern Lancaster County Joint High School, in Quarryville, PA; Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA, and Eden Theological Seminary, Webster Groves, MO. He was Ordained to the Christian Ministry by the United Church of Christ in June 1959. He went on to serve as the Pastor of United Church of Christ congregations in Plymouth, Terre Haute, Indiana, and Louisville, Kentucky. In each of these communities he provided leadership in the larger community as well as the church. In Louisville, he was instrumental, along with three other pastors in the formation of Southeast Associated Ministries; served on the Board and as President of the Board of Directors of Brooklawn (now USpiritus).
In February 1990, Maurice accepted the invitation to serve as a Chaplain on the staff of Hospice in Louisville, which he did until retirement in September oof 2013. He continued to serve Hospice of Louisville (part of Hosparus) as a volunteer. He has also served on thee Board of Directors of AIDS Interfaith Ministry (AIM) in Kentuckiana, Friends for Hope, as a representative of his church on the Board of Highland Community Ministries; as co-Captain of the Neighborhood Block Watch in his residence community; as a member of the Metro Louisville Long-term Recovery Committee (MLLTRC) and the Disaster Preparation and Recovery Team (DPRT) of the Indiana-Kentucky Conference of the United Church of Christ.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky, 40218. A funeral service in Rev. Maurice's honor will begin at 2:00 PM inside the funeral home chapel. Maurice will be laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Hosparus of Louisville or Douglass Blvd Christian Church in Maurice's honor.
