Mickey was born in Louisville to James and Ann Patterson on October 18, 1960. He grew up in Crescent Hill, played football at Atherton High School and graduated in 1978.
Mickey received a degree in Journalism from the University of Kentucky and remained a loyal Wildcat fan throughout his life. Following college, Mickey worked as Sports Editor for the Oldham County Era and the Shelby County Sentinel News, repeatedly winning honors for his writing and photography from the Kentucky Press Association. He was also a contributing sports writer for the Courier Journal.
Mickey is preceded in death by his father and mother, his brother, Billy and sister, LuAnn.
Mickey is survived by wife of 27 years, Julie Baher Patterson and daughter, Claire Catherine, in-laws John and Carol Baher, sister-in-law, Jennifer Griffiths (Kyle), a niece, Rachael and nephew, Ryan.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 15th, 2016, 2-8 pm at Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Avenue, with a service to celebrate Mickey's life at Noon on Wednesday, with private burial to follow at Cave Hill.
