Mike was the cherished son of the late John and Mary Polevchak (née Simko) and was predeceased by his brother, John Polevchak. He also mourned the loss of his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leonard and Dolores Cunningham (née Dumont). Left to honor his memory are his devoted wife of 48 years, Cheryl Polevchak (née Cunningham); his daughter, Keri Polevchak (Nicholas Livesay); his son, Michael Polevchak (Crystal Polevchak); and his beloved grandson, Theodore Michael Leonard Polevchak.
A proud alumnus of Lorain High School’s Class of 1972, Mike answered the call to serve his country with honor as a member of the United States Army’s renowned 101st Airborne Division—the "Screaming Eagles." Following his military service, he embarked on a successful career as an electrician at Ford Motor Company. Over three decades of dedication and hard work culminated in a well-earned retirement after 32 years with the company.
At the heart of Mike’s life was an enduring love story with Cheryl. Together they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. Their partnership spanned nearly five decades—a testament to their deep connection and shared devotion. As a husband, father, and grandfather, Mike found boundless joy in creating cherished memories with those he loved most. Whether it was celebrating milestones or simply sharing everyday moments together, family was always at the center of Mike’s world.
A deeply passionate sports fan all his life, Mike loved cheering for THE Ohio State Buckeyes as well as Cleveland’s Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers. He loved catching a ballgame and eating a hot dog with his kids like his dad did with him when he was a child.
Those who knew Mike will remember him for his gentle spirit and quiet strength. His kindness radiated through every interaction, leaving an indelible mark on all who crossed his path. Humble yet deeply devoted to those he loved most, Mike embodied what it means to live a life of purpose—one defined by love for family and an enduring commitment to others.
A private service and entombment will take place at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mike’s name to GO2 for Lung Cancer or the American Cancer Society.
May Michael L. Polevchak be forever remembered as a man whose legacy is woven into the hearts of those who loved him—a legacy built on devotion to family, quiet generosity, and unwavering kindness.
