Michael Richard Sr. was born on March 30, 1957, to Jame and Beulah Richard. He was the youngest of their sons. Michael attended Seneca High School, where he enjoyed playing football and creating memories with his classmates and teammates.
On February 16, 1985, Michael married Marsha Vary and lovingly welcomed her daughter, Chavon Thurman, into his life. Their union was blessed with a son, Michael D. Richard Jr.
Michael worked for Churchill Downs for several years, where he developed an appreciation for the horses and enjoyed watching them race. He also found great joy in fishing, especially when he could share those quiet and memorable moments with his children and his beloved grandson, Michael Richard III.
Michael had a special fondness for the Derby Festival and always looked forward to seeing the jets fly over Louisville. Their appearance in the sky was something that never failed to bring a smile to his face.
Michael will be remembered for the simple joys he cherished, the memories he created with his family, and the love he shared with those around him. His life touched many, and he will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
His son said that his dad was very charismatic, quick, witty, and a charmer who could sway an opinion with a few words and a smile, one of his greatest attributes. Being a fan of the University of Kentucky was what he was known for; he was infamously true " die-hard " U of K fan who loved to rally for them, especially against U of L. He would then find an excuse to trash-talk about the next team for the next season.
Sister-in-law Kim Johnson states I will miss Michael forever. From his oddly placed jokes to his fabulous BBQ, he always had something funny to say. Man, I'll miss that giggling and his smile. Until we all meet again, God bless you.
He leaves his loving memories of his wife, Marsha Richard; daughter Chavon J Thurman; son Michael Richard Jr. and daughter Audrey Dulin Cuff; grandsons Kamaron & Taevis Cuff, Michael Richard III; and granddaughters Samiya & Makiya. Brothers James Richard & family, Larry & family, Thomas Richard & Kenneth Richard, sister Mrs.Mary Patrick.
Michael would want to give special thanks to his beloved Aunt Hattie, whom he loved dearly and cherished like a mother. He will always treasure the loving conversations and special bond they shared.
To his nephews, Chike and Tim, Michael will deeply miss the special moments, laughter, and memories they made together.
His niece, Andrea, always had a special way of making him smile, and he will forever cherish those moments.
His daughter-in-law, Dawn, brought so much laughter and joy into his life. He will dearly miss the smiles and laughter they shared.
To his brother-in-law, Allen Johnson, Michael will miss the jokes, laughter, and good times they shared.
Michael held a special place in his heart for all of his family. He also cherished his extended neighborhood family in Newburg and Penway. The love, friendships, laughter, and memories shared with each of you will forever remain a treasured part of his life

Peaceful Rest
There comes a time when we all must rest from work and life; you've done your best. We keep our memories of laughter, of joy, of joking forever
more. We keep our memories of times that passed. We remember your smile, and although nothing ever lasts, we will keep it in our hearts and cherish our thoughts, for we didn't know the time was near. We will mourn the loss of you; in your journey through sickness, you didn't walk alone. Now comes a time for peace; now comes a time of rest. For we know God knew your journey, and knows how to give you your peaceful rest." To my brother-in-law, who will be greatly missed.
