Michele Brooks, 56, returned to her heavenly home on September 11, 2024. Born on April 22, 1968 in Louisville, KY, Michele was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Her legacy was a testament to her love, kindness, and strength. Through it all, she wanted to make sure everyone else was OK.
Michele was known for her passion for music, writing, computers and gaming, never letting illness get in the way of her goals. She graduated in 1999 from Ky College of Business with a double major in Health Information Technology and Computer Applications. She dedicated many years to her job at the Louisville VA Hospital as a telephone operator, making a significant impact on Veterans’ health everyday. Her commitment and dedication to her job inspired those around her.
Family and friends remember Michele for her love of history, archaeology, horror movies and anything with cats. She was always proud of her Sunday dinners and her beautiful dresses. She had a compassionate heart, a witty sense of humor and some stubborn Taurus ways, which made her who she was and kept her going in every season of her life.
Michele is preceded in death by her father John Owens and brother Stewart Jackson. She is survived by her mother Dorothy Brooks, siblings Kenneth Brooks, Tyrone Brooks (Deanna) and Christy Brooks, nephew John Michael Hines, nieces Tiffany Fisher, Shekinah Harvey, and Anita Jackson, along with a host of family and friends. A memorial service to celebrate all the love she brought to the world will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4623 Preston Hwy at 11:00. Reception to follow at the Yearling Club at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the National Kidney Foundation.
