Born on August 12, 1926, in Louisville, Kentucky, Mildred lived a life filled with love, adventure, and unwavering faith. She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Polk, whom she cherished above life itself. Their bond was one of deep love and companionship, and nothing brought her more joy than being by his side.
Mildred was an extraordinary mother who worked tirelessly to provide her children with the happy and carefree childhood she had always dreamed of. She was intelligent and exceptionally skilled in mathematics, typing, and accounting, talents that served her well throughout her entire life. Her sharp mind was matched only by her generous heart—she was caring, outgoing, witty, headstrong, and charitable.
A woman of deep faith, Mildred honored God above all else. She was a dedicated member of First Lutheran Church and actively participated in many church groups, including the Odds and Ends Club, who were a group of wonderful young couples navigating and exploring the world together through much of her life, meeting monthly well into their older age.
Mildred had a passion for travel and embraced every opportunity to explore the world. She embarked on numerous cruises and visited over a dozen countries, always eager to experience new cultures and landscapes. Another of her great loves as a young woman was roller skating, visiting The Louisville Roller Rink "at minimum" 3 times a week.
Her warmth and generosity touched the lives of many, leaving behind cherished memories for those fortunate enough to have known her. May her memory bring comfort to all who loved her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Crusade for Children.
A visitation for Mildred will be held Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
