

Mildred Russell Duncan, 83, of Louisville passed away on May 4, 2011 at Oaklawn Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Liberty, Kentucky on December 24, 1927 to the late Herman and Malissa Taylor Russell. She was a member of Southeast Christian Church and enjoyed volunteering in the church’s children library. She was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and a retired teacher with the Jefferson County Public School System.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, George A. Duncan and three brothers, Willard T. Russell, James V. Russell and Winifred Russell.
She is survived by her two children, Robert “Bob” Duncan and Ann Story Rumpel (Kaven); a granddaughter, Alison Taylor Schroeder; and a sister, Magdalene Merritt (Dayton) and a niece, Susan Merritt.
A celebration of her life will be conducted on Monday May 9, 2011 at 2 pm at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road with private burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2-8 on Sunday May 8, 2011 and from 10-2 on Monday at the funeral home.
