Mildred retired from Norton/Kosair Children's Hospital as a Registered Nurse.
She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Ruby Collier; siblings, Bobby Collier, Virginia "Bootie" Lape, and Norman "Jack" Collier.
Mildred is survived by her husband of 61 years, Edgar Eugene Emmons; children, Kim Emmons, Douglas Emmons, Melissa Scott, and Teresa Newman (Ricky); six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, William Collier; and sister, Peggy Dailey.
Funeral service to honor the life of Mildred will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Evergreen Funeral Home. Visitation for the public will be from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 12 p.m. till time of service on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to American Cancer Society or American Parkinson Disease Association.
