Miles Willis Riggs, Jr. (“Junior”), 86, passed away September 15, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Sonora, Kentucky, but grew up in Louisville’s Highland Park. Miles loved the Lord and was saved by God’s grace many years ago.
Miles was an avid UofL fan, loved his “cowboys” TV show Gunsmoke, and loved to listen to The Temptations and Jimmy Swaggart music. As a younger man, he enjoyed going to ‘Say When’ and ‘Colonial Gardens’ to dance the night away.
Miles retired from International Harvester and was an United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Miles Willis Riggs, Sr. and Dola (Hornback) Riggs; and siblings, James Riggs, Corrine Riggs, Hubert Riggs, Margie Sharpe, Charles (“Chucky”) Riggs, and Kenneth (“Kenny”) Riggs.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Rhonda Riggs, Dana Riggs Warren (Michael), Miles Darren Riggs (Dorothy), and Shayne Riggs; grandchildren, Courtney Riggs and Evan Kowadla; great grandchildren, where he was known as “Papaw Miles”; a host of nieces and nephews; and his dog, Rosco.
The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Evergreen Funeral Home Dignity Chapel with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:30 am – 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
