He retired from the Naval Ordnance Station in 1975 as the Director of Production Control. He was a disabled Navy veteran of the Korean war.
After his retirement, he started a residential construction company, and remained active in the building industry.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Alice (Werne) Schrenger; his parents, Arthur and Alvie Schrenger; two brothers, Arthur C. Schrenger, Carroll E. Schrenger; and two great-grandchildren.
He is survived by four children: Ty, Greg, and Mike Schrenger and Deborah Carter; two daughters-in-law, Joyce A. and Leslie A. Schrenger; and one son-in-law, Tracy Carter; eight grandchildren, Eric Schrenger, April Schadt, Lauren Blume, Stephanie Feger, Matt Schrenger, Clay Schrenger, Alex Carter, Shelby Baker; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday September 22, 2026 from 2-8 pm at Advantage Funeral Home - Heady Taylor, 3601 Taylor Blvd.
A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday September 23, 2026 at 10 am at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 639 So. Shelby St. with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
