She was born September 11, 1927 in Glen Dean, Kentucky, daughter of the late Melvin Lee and Louise Moore Sands. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Bonkofsky; one son, Don Bonkofsky; one sister, Margie Lou Harper; one aunt, Margiori Fischer.
She was Secretary to the General Counsel at Kentucky Education Association.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one grandson, Blake Bonkofsky; a niece, Cynthia Hendel; two cousins, Karl and Dan Fischer.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 in the Chapel of Arch L. Heady and Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Road. Interment will follow in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
