Nanny retired from Bell South after 40 years of service. After retirement, she continued to meet monthly with her wok family. She was a member of Saint Frances of Rome Catholic Church for over 50 years. Near and dear to her heart was volunteering for WHAS-11 Crusade for Children Telethon. She was an avid Bellarmine basketball fan and held season tickets for over 50 years. Nancy enjoyed her many years of travelling with family. Whether it was with 9 people in a two door Nova, then later on, in a convoy of mini-vans. She enjoyed cooking, baking and was best known for her cookies. She enjoyed working in the yard and gardening. She loved sending family and friends greeting cards and scrap booking. Nancy and her sister were a pair in every sense of the word. It will be hard to imagine them separated on earth. They were the matriarchs of the family and where you saw one, you saw the other.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Pace Smith.
Nancy is survived by her sister, Marilyn Staples Mary Cook and a brother Randy Staples (Brenda). She is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews, 17 great nieces and nephews, and 4 great-great nephews, numerous cousins, special friends and extended family.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:30pm on Monday March 14, 2022 at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church, 2119 Payne St. Louisville KY 40206. Guests are invited to attend a visitation from 2:30pm - 8:00 pm on Sunday March 13, 2022 at Arch L. Heady - Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Ave, Louisville KY 40206.
