August 18, 1934 – January 11, 2023
Nelson Walton of Louisville, KY went to his heavenly reward and to walk the streets of gold with his heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 11th, 2023. Nelson was a retired maintenance supervisor for Dairyman Inc. of Louisville.
Originally from Irvine, Kentucky, Nelson moved his family to Louisville in 1967. In Irvine, Nelson was a member of the Crooked Creek Christian Church. Upon moving to Louisville, Nelson and his family joined the Poplar Level Church of God, where he served in leadership for many years. He also attended Larchmont Church of God for several years and spent his last year as a member of the Louisville First Church of God.
Nelson’s favorite Bible verse was Matthew 19:26b, “with God all things are possible.” He was a man of great faith, who loved God’s church, and who trusted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. In his free time, Nelson enjoyed working anywhere and on anything, and dreamed about all the projects he could get his sons to do for him. He liked “managing people,” and he was never short on ideas. Nelson also enjoyed music, both listening and playing, which he could do by ear before his hands stopped allowing him to do so. He loved horses and hoped to ride again in heaven. He was a dreamer that never dreamed small.
Nelson was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Walton, and Flossie (Warford) Walton, as well as siblings, Dewey (Geraldine), Jay (Virginia), Rice (Virginia), Otis (Joyce), Glen (Betty), Emma Stevens (Charles), Lily May McCarty (Eddie), Evie Dunaway (Robert), and Stella Walton, as well as daughter-in-law Beth Walton (Phillip).
