Newton, Nettie Alberta (Rafferty), 94 (21), of Louisville, passed away Thursday, October 5. She was born on July 7, 1923, in Taylor County to the late Elliot and Erma Rafferty. Nettie is preceded in death by her husband Gilbert Newton; a daughter, Sue Barnett, and several brothers and sisters. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Ronald Newton (Barbara); 4 grandchildren, Stephen Barnett (Becky), Andrea Newton, Dana Newton, and Robert Newton; and 7 great grandchildren. The family would also like to acknowledge and thank Nettie’s nephew Larry Rafferty for his devotion and time spent with Nettie over the last several weeks and the staff at Parkway Rehabilitation and Nursing for their compassion and kindness to Nettie. The visitation for Nettie will be Saturday, October 7, at Arch L. Heady Southern Funeral Home, 3601 Taylor Blvd, from 12-8pm. A celebration of life service for Nettie will take place at the funeral home on Sunday at 10am, with burial to follow at Brockman Cemetery in Campbellsville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Nettie to Parkway Rehabilitation and Nursing.
