Norma Jean Washburn

WASHBURN, Norma Jean,80, died surrounded by her family and carried by the angels into the arms of her Heavenly Father on February 20th. Norma was a mother, grandmother, homemaker, charter member of Shively Christian Church, Sunday School teacher, member of the Martha Circle, caregiver to many children and a bookkeeper. She loved her children, grandchildren and siblings, Jesus, Shively Christian Church, singing hymns, kitty cats, making jokes and kidding around. Her favorite saying was "You can't be serious all the time!". Mrs. Washburn was preceded in rest by her loving parents, Namon Aron Allen and Ruby Edith Bruner Allen; her husband, Donald Hugh Washburn, Sr.; brothers, Clayton D. Allen, Harold Ray Allen, Sr. and Gerald Gene Allen; and beloved sisters, Geneva P. Meredith and Gladys Marie Gray. She is survived by her four children, Tammi Jean Walts (Rick), Donna Lynn Washburn (John Aerni), Donald Hugh Washburn, Jr. (Mendi Satterley) and Terri Ann Gonzales (Angel); grandchildren, Brooke Washburn, Bodhi and Django Gonzales and Mikaela and Meaghan Satterley; adored sister, Nancy Kaye Allen (Darla Perkins); brothers, Roger Dale Allen and Gary Wayne Allen; and a host of nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be on Saturday at 10am at the Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway, with interment following in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be on Friday from 3pm until 8pm. The family wishes to thank Shively Christian Church and Brother Mark Johnson for caring for our mother and bringing her communion long after she was unable to attend church services. We also sincerely thank the nursing and care staff of Parkway Rehabilitation Center for the care and attention provided to our mother and also love and thanks to Miss Lorene Harris and her family for looking after our mother and providing friendship and fun for the last year and a half of her life.
