Norm was born on December 31, 1935, in Caneyville, Kentucky (Grayson County). He was a computer specialist and proud employee of Ford Motor Company for 33 years. He also served five years in the Army National Guard. Norm loved his family, friends, his church (Vine Street Baptist Church), golf, traveling, all University of Louisville sports and his beloved parrot Roscoe of 30 years. He also was a proud member of South Park Country Club. He was loyal, hardworking, self-made, a great husband, father, brother and friend. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting and knowing him.
Norm was preceded in death by siblings Jackie Disney, JoAnn Wright, Hardin Embry, Marcella Dewitt and Sybill Embry.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Carol L. Embry, their children, Gregory R. Embry of St. Louis, Missouri and his spouse Tamara, Garry N. Embry of Brooklyn, New York and his spouse Rebecca, his granddaughter Victoria Lea Embry of St. Louis, Missouri and his brother Charles E. Embry of Louisville, Kentucky and his spouse Charleene. Norm is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Guests are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 3:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m. at Arch L. Heady Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arch L. Heady Resthaven.
