He was born April 18, 1925 to the late Philip and Elizabeth Laeng Woods. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Woods, in 2016.
Norman was a 1943 graduate of duPont Manual High School, a US Army veteran, having served in the 79th Infantry Division during WWII. He retired from the United States Postal Service, where he worked in the Personnel Office and was also a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church and Jeffersontown Masonic Lodge #774.
Survivors include his daughter Debbie Cotton (Doug); granddaughters, Elizabeth Basham (Josh) and Amanda Abernathy (Mike); great-grandchildren, Reid and Luke Basham and Micah and Audrey Abernathy; nephew, Don Clark.
The family would like to thank his caregivers over the years, including the staff at Presbyterian Home Westminster Terrace.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, January 13, 2023, at St. Matthews Baptist Church, 3515 Grandview Ave. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. and also from 12:00 PM until the time of the service on Friday at the church. Entombment will take place privately at Resthaven Memorial Park.
