

Orville Lee Tapp, 81, of Louisville, passed away on the evening of October 16, 2015 at Baptist Healthcare with his loving family by his side. He was a native of Eastwood, KY and a retiree of both National Distillery, where he worked for 23 years, and St. Matthews Hardware where he started working as a young man at the age of 13 until 2007. He was also a door greeter for Kroger at Taylorsville Road and the Gene Snyder. He was a volunteer for the KY. School for the Blind during his younger years, loved bowling and playing pool, cards and games. He ran the picnic and Bingo for many years at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church where he had been a member. Orville was also a member of the Middletown VFW Post #1170 and he had served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Predeceasing him was his wife, Shirley Stromire Tapp and his parents, Orville and Meecie Tapp.
Left cherishing his memory are his children, Pamela J. (Thom) Rossmann, Rickie L. (Susan) Tapp, Kelly A. (Tom) Yurt; grandchildren, Megan (Tim) Blue, Kristin (Clint) Brill, Rickie Tapp, Matt Rossmann, Kennedy and Kendra Yurt; and great-granddaughter, Sofia Brill.
A Life Celebration for Orville will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 12 noon at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, with private burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday after 9 a.m. at the funeral home.
