Patricia Hinkebein, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky, at the age of 89. Born on June 13th, in Buffalo, New York, Patricia's life was a testament to her enduring spirit and strength.
A graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, Patricia dedicated her life to the loving care of her family as a homemaker. She, alongside her husband of 53 years, Dr. Robert B. Hinkebein, Jr., created a home filled with love. Her commitment to her family was unwavering, and she leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Julia and Francis Walker, her sister, Dolores Rogers, and her beloved husband, Robert. Her memory will be cherished by her children, Nancy E. Nesbitt, Jeanne Hinkebein, and Frank R. Hinkebein. Her grandsons, Scott D. Basham and Thomas L. Basham, along with three great-grandchildren, will continue to be inspired by her life. Patricia's brother, Walter Walker, will hold dear the memories of their shared childhood and the bond they nurtured throughout the years. She was also survived by many loving extended family members.
An active and engaged member of her community, Patricia marched in support of the "March of Dimes," advocating for the health of mothers and babies.
Patricia's zest for life was evident in her love for running. She ran regularly for several years and participated in the Derby festival half-marathon. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and family.
A master of trivia, Patricia relished the challenge of Trivial Pursuit and Jeopardy, often outwitting her opponents with her sharp intellect and broad knowledge. She had a passion for dining out, always appreciating a well-cooked meal in the company of her family and friends.
Patricia Hinkebein, despite having vision and hearing limitations, never let those limitations get in the way of taking care of her family or herself. She persevered in difficult times and relished the good times life brought her. Her memory will be treasured, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation will take place at Arch L. Heady and Son Funeral Home Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. Louisville, Kentucky 40222 on Wednesday, July 9th from 11am - 1pm, with a Celebration of Life service beginning at 1pm.
Patricia will be entombed in Resthaven Memorial Park, 4400 Bardstown Rd. Louisville, Kentucky 40218.
