She was born in Limestone, Maine, at the Loring Air Force Base in 1961 to Frederick and Imogene Myers. From large families themselves, they were delighted to become parents. Patty became big sister to Bob, Lisa, and Sandy. Her cousin Micki Phipps filled in as the fourth sister. Patty and her siblings were especially close after the passing of their parents.
Patty attended Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee, where she studied Elementary Education. After moving to Louisville, Patty taught at Fairdale Elementary, Cochran Elementary, and Trunnell Elementary. Patty believed that children learn to read in the laps of their parents and taught her students with the same love and care she showed her own children.
Patty met her loving husband, Bart Wilson, in April 1984, in Nashville, TN, while finishing her studies. She quickly knew Bart was for her. After playing an April Fools joke claiming her car was on fire, he ran to the rescue with a fire extinguisher. Their love bloomed in laughter; they were married that December.
Patty became an immediate mother to Clarissa, Bart’s young daughter, and then she and Bart welcomed Carmen and Garrett. Patty was delighted to see her children find loving and supportive partners, Clarissa and Nate Curren, Carmen and Kyle Russell, and Garrett and Jane Jones.
Patty loved to be called Mom, but even more Grammy. Her grandchildren are Gavin (Clarissa and Nate Curren) and Olivia and Patrick (Carmen and Kyle Russel). Patty and Bart hosted an annual Grammy and Grampy camp. Patty loved seeing her grandchildren learn, play and perform.
Patty was a consummate crafter, loving to make handmade gifts or treats. She shared her love of creating with her children and grandchildren.
Patty was an active church member her whole life, and on the board of Grace Community Church. She was generous to all, opening her home to international believers, new members in need of connection, or those who needed a friendly face to have Sunday dinner with. Her church community brought her many joys, including her best friend Denise Paige. They raised their children together and loved to have coffee dates and adventures together after their children were grown.
She will always be remembered for her generosity, her humor, and her unbounded love. She is a beloved wife, sister, friend, mother, and grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Imogene, her brother Bob Myers, her beloved in-laws Vern and Carmen Wilson, and Clark Wilson. She is survived by her husband Bart, her sisters Lisa and Sandy (Buddy), sister-in-law Cathy, brother-in-law Bruce (Marge), sister-in-law Sally Ann, her children Clarissa, Carmen, and Garrett, her grandchildren Gavin, Olivia, and Patrick, and many nieces and nephews.
Her memorial service will be held at Grace Community Church, 4308 Taylorsville Rd. 40220 on July 19, 2025 at 3:00 pm. The family will welcome friends for visitation before the service at 2:00 pm.
