Born on November 4, 1949, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Paul was the oldest son of the late William Mastrolia and Kathryn O’Neill. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Louisville, followed by a Master of Science degree. Paul dedicated his career to improving his community, working for Louisville Metro Government on Relocation, Urban Renewal and Land Bank projects until his retirement in 2014.
Paul shared almost 38 beautiful years of marriage with his loving wife, Susan Roth. Together, they found immense happiness in rescuing and raising numerous cats over the decades. An active and familiar face in the community, Paul was also a faithful, long-time member of the downtown YMCA and Planet Fitness.
He is survived by his wife, Susan; his siblings, Mark Mastrolia, Peter Mastrolia (Sally), Anita Neal (Paul), Tressa Klossner (Earl), and Kathryn Taylor (the late Bryan); his brothers-in-law Bucky Roth and Danny Roth (Kathy); and many beloved nieces and nephews.
During his two-year illness, Paul was deeply grateful for the enduring loyalty of his friends. The family extends a special thank you to Paul, Steve, Chet, Vic and the rest of the crew for continuing to include him in their regular traditions, from lunches at Cunningham's and The Fish House to beers at Wick’s and Flanagan's.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Paul’s name to the Shamrock Foundation (PO Box 24033, Louisville KY 40224) or to any animal charity of your choice.
