

She was born in Louisville on September 16, 1946 to Julius and Mildred Whitlock of Louisville and married Clifton Garrett on January 25, 1964. She remained a faithful and loving wife to him for 46 years. She worked for several years a legal secretary for the Glass, Nash and Suell Legal offices. She was a graduate of Spenserian College and received academic awards and was a member of Sigma Beta Chi.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jimmy and Mildred Whitlock; her husband, Wayne Garrett; her brothers, Gene Salesman, Billy Whitlock and Leroy Whitlock.
She is survived by her loving children, Elisa Harlow (Tim), Anthony Garrett, Rebecca Shearin (Stacey), Clifton Garrett Jr. (Lisa), Dale Ramos (Cecy); six grandchildren, Ashley Rutherford (Daniel), Benjamin Shearin, Stephen Shearin, Andrew Shearin, Vincent McGrew, Dustin Pedigo; four great-grandchildren, Aleah Goss, Skyler Goss, Hailey Rutherford, Payton Rutherford; four sisters, Patsy Hopewell (Alvie), Debbie Ramos (Peter), Drema Martin (Howard) and Dorothy Meschede (Steve); two brothers, Ronald Whitlock and Adrian Whitlock (Mary Ann); and numerous nieces and nephews and pseudo children that she loved and took under her wing in her life.
Peggy loved life. She cherished her family and held them all close and precious. "Peggy said to smile and not mourn her, but of course we will. Our anchor is gone from our reach but her spirit is strong and will continue to lead us from heaven. Look out Lord, Here she comes..." Service will be held at the Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway, August 14, 2010 at 10 a.m. She will be placed to rest beside her husband in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2010.
