Phillip Marshall Locke, 69 of Louisville, passed away at his home on the afternoon of February 11, 2012. He was retired from the Jefferson County Public School system with over 30 years of service to the children of this community. He was an alumni of Western Kentucky University and a former member of the Masonic Lodge in Hardyville, KY.
Phil had been a teacher and counselor along with being a physical education teacher who loved sports of all kind, especially an avid basketball fan of the University of Louisville. He loved to travel and experience new cultures and people, having visited 36 countries through the years after retirement. He always made friends wherever he traveled. He would best be described as a very kind, extremely generous and thoughtful man who adored his daughters and grandsons. Children were his passion, in the classroom, on the court, on the street or even in a grocery store. He never met a stranger or a child he couldn't make smile!
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. and Wilma F. Reynolds Locke, and a brother, Mitchell Locke.
Left to cherish is memory are his loving daughters, Beverly (Kenneth) Flaherty and Karen Locke both of Indianapolis, IN; his life companion, Donna Spencer; brother, Melvin (Betty) Locke and sisters, Carmen Atwell and Kathy Self; and his beloved grandsons, Ryan and Steven Flaherty; and many friends and collegues.
