Phyllis J Thaxton

She was a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She loved being a homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and mother in law. She loved spending time with her family, especially on special occasions. One of her biggest is joys was spending time with her great grandchildren.

Mrs. Thaxton is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 58 years, Mervin Dale Thaxton; sister, Nellie Steele; and brothers, Boyd and Wilson Shirley.

Mrs. Thaxton is survived by her daughter, Carol Woods (Gerald); grandsons, Brian Woods (Meryl) of Louisville, Kentucky and Brad Woods (Sandy) of Sarasota, Florida; great grandchildren, Clayton and Riley Woods; nieces, Sandy Gagel and Karen Buck; and nephews, David, Kelly and Kurt Shirley.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025 at 2 pm at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4623 Preston Hwy. Visitation will be held Monday from 11am until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Thaxton will be laid to rest beside her husband Dale at Evergreen Cemetery.
