
She was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on January 29, 1935.
Phyllis attended Eastern Gate Baptist church and used her faith as a guiding force throughout her life. Known for her kind heart and gentle spirit, Phyllis touched the lives of many through her generosity and compassion. Her love was especially evident in the care she provided to her husband and son during their illnesses, faithfully serving as their caregiver with unwavering strength, patience, and grace. She found joy in the simple things in life such as knitting, gardening and being surrounded by the outdoors. Her family often joked that she was something else, and they wouldn’t have her any other way.
Along with her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her loving husband, Billy Turner; and her only son, Michael Turner.
Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Mary Manwiller and her sister-in-law, Rita Johnson.
A visitation for Phyllis will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home in Louisville, Kentucky on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 11:00AM to 2:00PM with a funeral service to follow beginning at 2:00PM. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband and son in Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
