SANDERS, QUINTON. "ED" SR., 87, of Jeffersonville, IN, passed away peacefully Friday, December 30, 2011. Ed started his service station career in 1956 in an Aetna Station at Floyd and Brandeis. He retired after 37 years at Sanders Marathon Station at 4th and Iowa in Louisville. He had a passion for working in his garden and orchard. He was a 50 year member of Highland Park Lodge #865, Scottish Rite and Kosair Shrine. He is survived by his loving wife, Opal with whom he shared 66 years of marriage; two sons, Quinton E. Sanders Jr. (Virginia) and Thomas R. Sanders Sr. (Diane); two daughters, Emma Hoffa (George) and Paula Sanders (Jeff); nine grandchildren, Robin Vance (Dennis), Tricia Wilson (Pete), Chip Hoffa, Thomas R. Sanders Jr., Kelly Sanders, Joey Lee, Brian Lee, Amy Mitchell (Matt) and Quinton E. Sanders III (Ashley); two great-grandchildren, Maryn and Milo Mitchell and a special friend, Joe Lee. A celebration of Ed's life will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the O. D. White & Sons Funeral Home, 2727 S. Third St., Louisville, with interment at Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Monday and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial donation may be made to Kosair Charities.
