

Ray was born on October 13, 1947 in Louisville to Raymond Louis Sr. and Jesse Belle Crawford. He attended Durrett High School. Ray was a proud member of the UAW Local #862, where he worked for Ford Motor Company in Louisville for 38 years. While in the Union, Ray protected the rights of his fellow Union brothers and sisters. Ray was a lifetime member of the Bullitt County Shrine Club, member of the Scottish Rite Temple and Kosair Shrine. While in the Shrine, Ray was president of the Gold Wing Motor Corp's Unit. Most recently Raymond was a supporting member of the VFW Post 1427 in Charlestown.
Ray is survived by his long time companion, Denise "Dino" Jewell; sons, Tony (Amy), Terry (Carissa) Johnson; brothers, Gary and Harold Johnson; sister, Sharon Murphy, Gene (Audrey), Joe and Jimmy Jewell; grandchildren, Tariana, Carena and Caden Johnson, Michael, Thomas, Destiny, Angel and Taylor Jewell.
Ray wanted to acknowledge his dear friends at Bushman's, his dog, Blonde and St. Jude's Cancer Research Center.
A service honoring the life of Ray will be held Saturday at noon at Evergreen Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday from 12-8 p.m.
Papa will miss you all and will see you all when you get to Heaven! May the Buffalo Women be forever singing and dancing in your hearts in memory of me.
