Raymond Smith, age 79, passed away on June 8, 2026. Born on May 14, 1947, Raymond will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who knew him. A beloved presence in the lives of many, he carried himself with a gentle steadiness—thoughtful in word and deed, honest in spirit, and quietly brave when life required strength. His loyalty and patient kindness were gifts freely given, and his compassion left a lasting mark on those fortunate enough to share in his life.
Raymond graduated from Valley High School, Class of 1966, and continued his education at Sullivan University, where he obtained an Associate’s degree in Business. His commitment to service was evident in his proud military service in the United States Air Force, serving in Thailand during the Vietnam War—an experience that reflected his sense of duty and the calm courage with which he met the responsibilities entrusted to him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Linda J. (Adkisson) Smith; two sons, David Smith, and Daniel Smith (Amanda); granddaughter, Katelyn; great-grandson, Tucker; and two brothers, Ronnie Smith (Velana) and Bruce Smith (Jeanette). He is also survived by his fur babies, Ginger and Grace.
In quieter moments, Raymond found joy in collecting Coca Cola memorabilia, working puzzles, and spending time with family—simple pleasures that suited his gentle nature and the care he took in nurturing the bonds that mattered most. His life was one of steady devotion, kind-hearted presence, and sincere love, and he will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven (4400 Bardstown Road Louisville, KY 40218) on Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 pm with burial to follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
