

Richard (Dick) and his childhood sweetheart moved to Louisville, KY in 1965 to be closer to immediate family and began his career with General Electric which spanned close to 30 years before retirement.
A lifetime member of the Scottish Rites, frequent traveler to Tunica, MS, sporting events, NASCAR and the Horseshoe Casino, his life was full of wonderful times.
Most notably, however, was his incredible ability to always be a role model to his family. He always did the right thing to ensure his family's happiness and opportunities.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Leslie and Ethel Akam and his daughter, Shari (Larry Toth).
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Fay, their children Christine Zuger and Richard W. Akam (Nichole). In-laws Jim and Bonnie Thompson.
Grandchildren: Ainsley, Ashton, Abigail and Addyson Akam. Chris and Brian Toth.
The family wishes to thank all of his caretakers, doctors, nurses and staff that helped make the final years as great as they could be. Also, all of his friends and family of 94 years to make it a life worthwhile. A special thank you to Debbie and Becky from The Grand.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 4 at Arch L. Heady (7410 Westport Road, 40222) from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. with words of honor and remembrance at 12:30. Burial will follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens East.
He was a class act and gentleman.
