Robert "Bobby" Gunther, 80, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2024 in Louisville. Bobby was born in Louisville and was a graduate of St. Xavier High School. He was a retired maintenance worker for Churchill Downs.
Bobby was a kind and gentle soul who always saw the good in people and would always help anyone in any way he could. A deeply loving father and brother and a generous and loyal friend, he was always there for loved ones and he had a gift of knowing the right words to say to make everyone feel better, especially in difficult times.
A lover of nature, he enjoyed spending the entire day soaking up the sun and tending to the flowers in his yard while listening to beautiful music. Countless friends and family members will enjoy the trees and flowers Bobby planted for them for years to come. Bobby was dearly loved by many and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents Bob and Sarah Gunther and his former wife Frances Capodanno.
Left to cherish his memory are his sister, who adored him, Sally Gunther; his loving and devoted daughter Rebecca Gunther; nephew Chris Warner, niece Theresa Warner; special cousins Micky and David Eade; and special friends Donald Burchett and Kenny Brown.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hosparus of Louisville.
Visitation will be on Saturday, May 11 from 12:00-2:00 followed by a celebration of Bobby's life at 2:00 in the chapel at Evergreen Funeral Home.
