

Robert Carleton Iler, 77, of Louisville, passed away New Year’s Day. He was born December 20, 1939 to the late James Cleve Iler Jr. and Jean Helfrich Iler. He was a veteran of the US Army. Robert's professional career spanned 47 years with Sheehy and Associates where he held several positions and became senior vice president.
He was a member of the American Advertising Federation (formerly the Advertising Club of Louisville), where he was a Life Member, he served as Chairman of the Board from 1978-1980, President 1980-1981. In 2002 he received a Distinguished 5 star certificate which is awarded for 5 or more years of extraordinary contributions to the betterment of the ideals of the Advertising Club.
He was a sports enthusiast who followed the Louisville Cardinal football and basketball teams since his childhood. He was very involved with the Louisville advertising softball league, coaching and serving as commissioner for several years. He was a member of Beechwood Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving children Michael W. Iler and Victoria A. Allen, his 2 grandchildren Kyle W. Iler and Devon A. Iler, his siblings James Cleve Iler III (Lou Ann), John N. Iler (Ann), Janet Iler Bignon, and several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate Robert’s ife will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday in the chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son, 7410 Westport Road, with interment at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4-8 pm Wednesday, and after 11 am Thursday.
