Robert (Bob) G. Long, 86, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022. He was born in Etowah, Tennessee on September 6, 1935 to the late Barney and Hazel (Hamby) Long. Bob was a photo engraver and worked for many years at Fawcett Printing until retiring from McKay Engraving.
Bob had very many interests, some being jigsaw and word search puzzles. Bob really loved sports, especially his Kentucky Wildcats. He also enjoyed cheering on the Yankees, Packers, Dodgers, and watching wrestling. Bob also had many dogs during in his life, but his black lab Ricky had a very special bond with him. He loved to travel to many places. Hawaii was his absolute favorite to visit, so much so that he proudly could say that he had been there 8 times! Of all his wonderful adventures and joys his greatest was spending time with the love of his life, his wife of 64 years Donna.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Angela Marie Long; two sisters, Mary Francis Long and Betty Lester; as well as a brother James B. Long.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Donna S. Long; two daughters, Cheryl A. Long and Karen M. Shelton (Kurt); a sister Sue Newell of Murrietta California; three grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Liz and Nicolette with Hosparus Health for the loving care they gave to Bob.
A visitation for Bob will be at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home on Wednesday August 17, 2022 from 3-7 PM. The following day a funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 12 PM.
