He was born on November 1, 1942, to James Herbert and Gertrude Luckett. He was the proud owner of Louisville Prosthetics, a family business founded by his father. For over 73 years, the company has served the community, and he was honored to work alongside his sons. Louisville Prosthetics will continue on through them, carrying forward the legacy he cherished. He shared over 60 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Diana, whose love and partnership were the foundation of his life.
An active member of the community, Robert was known for his warmth and ease in conversation—he never met a stranger. He enjoyed fishing with his sons, cheering for his favorite sports teams, and spending time with his grandchildren. He attended church throughout his life and valued the faith and fellowship he found there. He was happiest when hosting a home full of family, laughing and sharing stories. He will be remembered fondly for his kindness of spirit, generosity of heart, and fierce love for his family.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, J.H. and Gertrude Luckett; his sisters, Barbara Alford and Wanda Zimmerlee; and his beloved son, James Thomas.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Diana, his sons: Wayne (Laurie), Bruce (Margaret), and Christopher (Jennifer). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Hannah; Tyler (Meredith); Sarah (Ravi); Ashley (Robert); Mary Grace; Jackson; and Laney. His legacy continues through his eight great-grandchildren: Graham, Lucas, Theo, and Reid (Tyler and Meredith); Zane, Miles, and Beck (Sarah and Ravi); and Hayden (Ashley and Robert).
Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 25, 2025, at Heady Funeral Home, 7410 Westport Rd, Louisville, KY 40222. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Heady Funeral Home.
