Robert William Metzger

He was born on August 2, 1933, in Louisville, Kentucky to parents Robert W. Metzger Sr. and Minnie K. Metzger.

He graduated from Male High School in Louisville, Kentucky, and went onto Western Kentucky College, and eventually graduated from the University of Louisville with his bachelor’s degree in physics. He worked as a semiconductor engineer for 32 years with Delco Electronics, then a division of General Motors, in Kokomo, Indiana. Robert was also a proud Marine veteran, serving as a staff sergeant, and being active in the Marine Corp League.

Robert also enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, building model trains, golf, and very active in the church. He loved music, whether it be playing the piano, singing in a quartet with his father and brothers, or singing in the church choir.

Robert is survived by his children, Bruce (Carla) Metzger, and Julia (Randy) Rogers; dear grandchildren, Rachel (Tyler) Dickel, Derek Metzger, Robert (Julie) Rogers, and Ryan (Marie) Rogers; adored great-grandchildren, Josiah, Judah, Ellis, Caroline, and Reid; cherished siblings, Larry (Kathy) Metzger, Glenn (Peggy) Metzger, and Kathy Metzger

A memorial service will be held for Robert on May 31, 2025, beginning at 11:00am at Resthaven Memorial Park located at 4400 Bardstown Road Louisville, KY.
