He was born in Louisville Kentucky to the late Julian and Myrtle Newton on February 22, 1949. Roger enjoyed hunting and fishing - anything outdoors. He was an Army Veteran and had many wonderful friends. He was a joke teller and in his later years he became a "Dad Joke" teller. Nothing was more special to him than spending time with his grandchildren.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; 3 siblings; and his precious granddaughter, Ellissa Greenwell.
Left to cherish Roger's memory is his loving wife of 54 years, Carol Greenwell; children, Laura Greenwell, Justin Greenwell; grandchildren, Jacob and Josie Greenwell; brother, James Greenwell; many extended family members and great friends.
A memorial gathering for Roger will be Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home - Okolona, 8519 Preston Highway, 40219.
