

He was born on April 29, 1930 in Shrewsbury, Grayson County, Kentucky to the late Roy McClure and Ethel South.
Roger is preceded in death by his wife, Anna "Jo" McClure.
Left to cherish Roger's memory is his son, David McClure (Melissa); grandson, Kaleb all of Bradenton, Florida; sister-in-law, Dorothy L. Dudley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Caneyville High School in 1948 and began work at Philip Morris that same year. After completing his apprenticeship and working through several positions until 1975 when he moved to the New Training Center teaching the new generation of machinery. Later, spending time in Italy where the new machinery was being built.
In September 1950 he married Anna "Jo" LeMaster at Walnut Street Baptist Church. They lived together for 70 years until she had to go to a long term care home.
Roger proudly served his country in the Marine Corp from January 2, 1952 to January 2, 1954.
Being a skilled woodworker, he taught woodworking in Kentucky and several other states for fourteen years.
As a member of West Broadway Baptist Church, he used his woodworking skills to make a cabinet for the sound system in the sanctuary, the beautiful cross on the memorial table and many other things were refinished and repaired during his tenure. Serving as chairman of Trustees during the time of the latest addition he faithfully spent many hours until the new addition was completed and dedicated.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4623 Preston Hwy, Louisville, Kentucky 40213, with a service to honor the life of Roger to follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Roger will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to West Broadway Baptist Church, 8420 Six Mile Lane, Louisville, Kentucky 40220.
