Ronald Lew Harris took his final curtain call Thursday, August 24. Born May 29, 1953 in Louisville, Ron acquired his love of acting and the arts at an early age. After graduating from Fairdale High School and Morehead State, he followed his dream to New York where he attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. While in N.Y., Ron met and married the love of his life, Jane Badgers. There they created a life together acting and directing for the next 32 years. One of Ron’s favorite roles was in the Spike Lee movie, Do the Right Thing. Before retirement, Ron spent the last 3 years working on Law and Order Criminal Intent. In 2004 he and Jane left Brooklyn and settled in one of the historic homes in Old Louisville, a goal of Ron’s fulfilled. He later co-authored a book, Old Louisville Images of America. Ron became an entrepreneur creating a business famous for Happy Balls bourbon candy. He was a proud member of the Screen Actors Guild, Actors Equity, and the KY Colonels. Ron is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jane; brother Lloyd (Kathie); two nephews, and several cousins.
A visitation for Ronald will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home (4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218), followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM.
