Born March 13, 1947, in Washington, Pennsylvania, Ron was the son of the late Emerson and Sara Moore Horn. As a 1965 honor graduate from East Washington High School, he continued his education at the University of Arizona and University of Louisville, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from U of L in 1969. While serving in the U.S. Army Reserve, Ron was appointed to the rank of Staff Sergeant in 1973. In 1978, he completed his Master of Business Administration at Bellarmine College.
Starting his occupational path as a chemist for Seagram’s, Ron’s career forward included the sales motto “Smile and Dial,” as an independent manufacturer’s representative for Cryomedics, Syntex, Medtronic, Dentrix, and Sullivan-Schein. In 2007, he established his own company, Digital Spine Diagnostics, and upon retirement in 2014, Ron worked part time the next ten years as a subcontractor for GDIT, a global technology and professional services company for U.S. government agencies.
Ron was a member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church, a deacon and former treasurer. Nurturing his love of classic cars, golf, historical homes, antiques, vintage watches, and U of L sports, Ron held prior memberships in the Porsche Club of America, Audubon Country Club, the University Club, and as a Kentucky Colonel.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Emerson and Sara Horn, and his brother, William (Bill) Horn. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of forty years, Valorie; son, Cameron Horn, PharmD, MBA, Carmel, Indiana; daughter, Millicent Horn, MD, St. Louis, Missouri; sister, Marianne Davis (Kent), Bush, Louisiana; sister-in-law, Pamela Fry, Cincinnati, Ohio; as well as nieces and nephews, and his beloved Goldendoodle Charleston.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 30th, at Crescent Hill Baptist Church, 2800 Frankfort Avenue, Louisville, KY 40206, with visitation at 10 A.M. and the service following at 11 A.M.
