Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on Thursday, February 18, 1943, Ron was the son of B.F. & Virginia Runager. He served his nation with pride and honor in the United States Army for 8 years, & was stationed in Vietnam. During his military time, he became a marksman with a Rifle. He retired from Brown – Forman in 2006, where he was a production operator. Ron was also a member of the American Legion (Woodlawn) & a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Corbin, Kentucky for over 50 years. Ron was a big fan of U.K. Basketball, NASCAR, Bob Seger & NCIS. He enjoyed going to Florida especially in the winter time. He was a very caring & giving Dad & Grandad. Ron will be missed by all of those that had the honor of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Daddy Fred & Mama Ocie, that helped raise him until he was 10; his parents, B.F. & Virginia; brother, Richard; 5 – Aunt’s; 3 – Uncle’s (some helped raise him); 3 – first cousins; & 2 – close friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter & son – in – law, Rhonda Gail & Will; grandchildren, Evelyn Joyce & Clayton Ronald; sister, Shirley & brother – in – law, Dennis; 2 – nephews, Matt & Cliff; & cousin’s, Polly, Pabby Jo, Shirley Ann, Jane, Pat, Clark & Sonny.
Ron was blessed with so many amazing friends: Ann, Dean, Geoff, Jimmy, Kelly, Marlene, Pam, Phil, Rick, Robert, Tracy & Yvonne.
He also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends.
The family would like to give a very special thanks to Richwood Nursing & Rehab along with Hosparus Health Louisville, for their care & compassion.
In lieu of flowers & customary expressions of sympathy, memorial donations are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. in the Dignity Chapel of the Evergreen Funeral Home. "Catfish" will be laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer of the Evergreen Cemetery & Garden Mausoleums with Anthony, Clayton, Dean, Geoff, Phil & Rick serving as Pallbearers & Matt, Cody, Jimmy, Robert & Sonny serving as Honorary Pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. and then again on Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the Funeral Hour of 12:00 pm. also at the Evergreen Funeral Home.
