Rose M. Simon, 77, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019. She was born in Louisville, on November 22, 1941 to the late Joseph Shahadey and Nahile Asseff Shahadey. Rose graduated from Atherton High School. She worked as a secretary for both B.F. Goodrich and Phillip Morris Company and worked for both, Seneca and Ballard High School. She then went on to retire from the Jefferson Co. Board of Education as the Superintendent of Pupil Personnel. Throughout her life she enjoyed ceramics, bowling, basketball, and cooking; especially pastry’s and desserts. Rose is a member of St. Michael Orthodox Church; where she was involved in the Ladies Society, and she is an Eastern Star. Rose was a very accomplished woman, however, with all her achievements, she will always be remembered for the love and devotion she had for her family.
Along with her parents, her brother, Michael Shahadey preceded her in death. Her beautiful memory will be carried on by her husband of 55 years, Eli Simon; children, Marek Simon (Allison) and Natala Gahm; grandchildren, Peyton and Annabel Gahm and Elias and Luke Simon; uncles, Nassem Asseff and Edward Asseff (Frederica); aunt, Jeanette Asseff; sisters in-law, Delores Metry (Raymond) and Patricia Simon; niece in-law, Pam Gowers (Stephen); and so many other relatives and friends that will miss her dearly.
Visitation will take place on Monday, January 14th from 2-8pm at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road. The funeral service will be held at 10am on Tuesday, January 15th at St. Michael Orthodox Church, 3701 St. Michael Church Drive, with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. The family ask that expressions of sympathy be made to St. Michael Orthodox Building Fund or the Alzheimer’s Association.
