After a previous marriage to Tommie Gray, she met the true love of her life, Walter Cowherd. She married Walter Cowherd on September 22, 1970. They raised 3 daughters, Teresa Looney, Kimberly Gray and Rosanna Burns.
Rosetta worked at Jewish Hospital for over 30 years then moved on to work at J.B. McFerran Elementary School in the school cafeteria.
She loved to garden and spent hours in her backyard garden “playing in the dirt.” She loved spending time with her sisters, shopping, traveling and planning family gatherings for both July 4th and Christmas holidays. She and her sisters loved sitting on the porch with their Pepsi & KFC. She and hubby loved their Captain D’s on Fridays. She also enjoyed catering events with her sister, Juanita. They made the best Jello-molds. She enjoyed preparing Sunday dinner for her family. She also enjoyed hanging out with the family watching television “on the back porch.” She doted on her grandchildren, encouraging them to “reach for the stars.” Rosetta moved to Maryland to live with her daughter, Kimberly after her husband passed away. While living in Maryland, she continued her love of gardening and developed an interest in exotic houseplants. Rosetta loved sight-seeing the various sites in Washington DC and Maryland. She loved long walks on the trial in the neighborhood and she loved walking on the treadmill. She also developed an interest in experimenting with different cuisines.
We will always remember our sweet, soft-spoken mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend with the beautiful smile and that “Julure McDowell strut.”
Get your rest mom, until we meet again.
