Ruby Nell Burchett

Ruby Nell Cary Burchett, 83, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on January 30, 2025. She was born to the late Robert and Laura Cary on January 31, 1941. Ruby attended school in both Cumberland and Jefferson counties. As a young woman she moved to Louisville to pursue better opportunities where she married William "Russell" Burchett.

Ruby would go on to have a longstanding career at Philip Morris as a machinist for 30 years, where she ran a coffee club. Ruby was a go-getter and was very successful at whatever she put her hand to. She was a great blessing to many and provided support to anyone in need. She loved the Lord, her family, traveling, gardening, and anything with cheetah print.

In addition to her parents, Ruby is preceded in death by her son; Cary Lee Baker (Laura) , siblings; Levy Douglas Cary (Louise), Deborah Cary, Cynthia Cary, James Cary, Billy Cary, and Maurice Cary, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.

Left to cherish Ruby’s memory is her loving husband of 57 years; William Russell Burchett, children; Dameto Muhammad (Milton) Tracy Lewis Baker, James Kennedy Baker, and Sonia Mae Greening (Anthony), grandchildren; Kermeda Baker-Trice (Brian), Yasmin Baker, Ko’Shea Henry, Christopher Baker, Hayden Baker, Cage Baker, Shania A’nell Greening, and Julius Russell Greening, great-grandchildren; Ka’beyon Trice and Trinity Jarrett, siblings, Zelma Cary-Lawson and Regena Burchett, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and loving friends.

The family of the late Ruby Nell Burchett would like to acknowledge with deep appreciation and thankfulness the Mosaic United Methodist Church and friends for the many comforting messages, prayers, visits, flowers, and all the acts of kindness during the passing of their loved one. May God continue to bless and keep each of you.

Visitation for Ruby will take place Thursday, February 13, 2025 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm,at Evergreen Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Friday February 14, 2025, from 10:00am to 11:00am at Mosaic United Methodist Church, 8008 St. Andrew Church Rd, Louisville, Kentucky 40258. A funeral service will follow directly at 11:00am Friday, February 14, 2025,at Mosaic United Methodist Church, 8008 St. Andrew Church Rd, Louisville, Kentucky 40258. Ruby will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery.
